Gold Award!

Angela, Joan and Carol's Community Health & Wellbeing YOUTH project team have won the Gold Team award at this year's Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park Community Partnership, Volunteer of the Year awards 2013.

Arrochar and Tarbet Community Development Trust and the Community Council nominated the Arrochar YOUTH Arrofrica Project for the Community Partnership Volunteer Awards.

Angela and a representative group of the village's young people attended an awards ceremony on Saturday 9th November, in Drymen's Buchanan Arms Hotel, where they were presented with their Gold Award. The group's commitment and progress on the project was recognised by the judges in placing their personal and group efforts above the voluntary efforts of all other community groups in the National Park.

The group's ambition to raise funds themselves, through various activities, to travel to Africa and experience life in a remote Kenyan village and offer voluntary assistance in building work and other infrastructure development, was considered an outstanding ambition.

Along with their award certificate the group will receive a cheque which will go towards their ARROFRICA project and they will also receive a group visit to the Go Ape outdoor adventure park at Aberfoyle, for up to 20 group members and their leaders, valued at about £1,000.

Well done to all the young people, who have helped themselves in forming this group and working at setting themselves such an ambitious target, with the objective of learning about another community on the other side of the world and offering to help them in some way, to improve life for families and young people in their community.
