Arrochar Alps Real Ale Festival

Following its success last year, the 2015 Arrochar Alps Real Ale Festival proved even more popular, despite the unpredictable weather! With visitors from Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as from the more local communities, the Three Villages Hall in Arrochar was packed to capacity on Saturday March 28th. As well as the chance to enjoy six of the best ales from each of Scotland and Yorkshire, designated drivers were provided with free soft drinks, while cider, wine, and teas and coffees were on offer for those not tempted by the beer. Freshly prepared hot food, including fish and chips and curry, were provided by the community-owned Three Villages Cafe.

Live music was provided by local musicians, and children's films were available throughout the afternoon to keep the younger attendees entertained!

Beer drinkers had the chance to compare similar types of beer from Yorkshire and Scotland - for example Ilkley’s Black and Loch Lomond’s Silky Stout, Black Sheep’s Riggwelter and Inveralmond’s Thrappledouser, and Saltaire’s Blonde and Harviestoun’s Schiehallion. Also on offer were Timothy Taylor’s award-winning   Boltmaker will Tempest’s Long White Cloud, with further ales from Copper Dragon and Acorn breweries in Yorkshire and Highland and Loch Ness breweries from Scotland.  We await the final scores in the Yorkshire  versus Scotland match!
