Hidden Heritage Open Day

Helped by possibly the sunniest day so far this year, the Hidden Heritage Project Open Day on Saturday 25th May welcomed over 150 people to the excavations at the enigmatic boundaries on the hillside opposite Ballyhennan Church.

Visitors were able to see the excavations in progress and talk to the archaeologists from Northlight Heritage, try their hands at a range of traditional crafts courtesy of the National Park's Clanscape living history group, sample locally-brewed Haakon's Ale from Loch Lomond Brewery, listen to old Norse fiddle music brought back to life by professional fiddle player and local music teacher Helen-Reid Foster and some of her pupils, enjoy the bagpipes played by local pupils from Hermitage Academy, try their hand at landscape painting with the help of local artist Janet Stanton, and join in evocative drumming sessions led by drummer and Hidden Heritage volunteer Anne Evans.
