In the Footsteps of Columba

The Art Map traveling exhibition is an initiative of a group of Argyll artists for the ‘Year of Columba’.  The exhibition traces Columba’s journey from Ireland to his landfall in Argyll and eventual arrival on Iona.  The exhibition opened in the Cathedral of St John the Divine in Oban on 1st of June, and can now be viewed at the Three Villages Hall in Arrochar from 3rd until the 31st August.  The darker aspects of Columba’s story are explored and the ideas of travel and pilgrimage are illustrated through boxes and suitcases.  From gold leaf to an old flipflop, there is much to enjoy through the various interpretations and techniques used to illuminate the subject.

The Hall will be open weekdays from 10 - 3 pm.

The exhibition catalogue can be downloaded from here.
