MacFarlane sites survey

We’re delighted to report that Clan Macfarlane Worldwide recently generously funded Heather James of Northlight Heritage to carry out some survey work of known and possible archaeological sites in Arrochar Parish. This survey, coordinated by Heather and implemented with the help of local volunteers, Glasgow University students, and members of ACFA (the Association of Certificated Field Archaeologists) aimed to build up a fuller picture of how and where people lived in the area, particularly during the time when the lands around Arrochar were the territory of the MacFarlane Clan (1225-1785).

Check out the project proposal here.

To see the initial report of the survey, visit the Hidden Heritage website here.

Thanks to Clan Macfarlane Worldwide for funding the survey and allowing us to share the results, to Heather for coordinating it, and to all the volunteers for tramping up and down mountains and through bogs to look for piles of stones :)
